Marissa Shandell
Marissa Shandell is a PhD candidate in Management and Organizational Behavior at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is studying the psychological and social forces that drive employees to feel and do their best at work. Her research program concentrates on two streams: employee well-being (e.g., burnout, workaholism, perfectionism) and social motivation at work (e.g., motivation contagion between colleagues). Her research investigates fundamental questions about the conditions that enable employees to work not only harder but also smarter and healthier. Prior to her doctoral studies, she was an associate partner at McKinsey & Company, where she spent several years serving financial services clients on a wide range of topics. she also spent time on McKinsey’s People Analytics team. She received her BS in Economics from Wharton, with concentrations in Management and Finance.
